wrist shark deterrant

The wife was talking to a person at her work the other day about diving and the discussion turned to sharks, he mentioned that he had seen on a website that somebody had brought out a wrist shark shield that is similar to a watch. Our son is a mad keen body boarder and a surf board shark shield is not really appropriate for this type of activity as they are laying on the board all the time and the tail would give them a shock.  Has any one heard of these or knows of something that would work in this situation.

I dive and have a divers shark shield give me and the wife piece of mind when down under the water, but with the sighting and attacks we need to sort something out for these type of activitys.

Cheers

Colin

It's called ESDS, wrist or ankle, or both ;)

Not as much current or range as the SS7, so maybe not as effective. What's important? A few shocks or not getting eaten?

not an expert

But if you watch whites checking you out they will circle you for a while before deciding to go in for the kill

the shark shield is designed to deter them before they get to that point, if they are constanly getting the

zap from a shark shield on there snout then in theory they wont approach any closer. go to the shark shield web site

and watch the videos then decide for yourself I dont know if they will be effective in every case but to me it's a no brainer considering the cost, FFS some people will spend a thousand bucks on a reel they probbably dont realy need

but they want one anyway so why not spend a few hundred bucks and give yourself a better than average chance of NOT being taken when your in the water

At the end of the day some people wont believe they work and no one will

convince them otherwise regardless of the evidence to say they do

if you are one of those people then good luck to you...Me I prefer to err on the side of caution

with you anything is better then nothing, i hope they work and i also hope they increase their effective range to say 15-20m, as a diver i will be purchasing one.

Just ordered one

Thanks guys for all the advise, have just ordered one from a local supplier. Just peace of mind for us and he is less likely to be taken if he has one on and the others surfers dont. Very selfish comment but personel safety comes first.

When you get it delivered, once attached to your wrist tie the other end around a small but flexible tree. That way no shark will come anywhere near you "GUARANTEE"   lol

cheers & be safe
