XH rock and surf tackle

 Good day All

I am moving to south Aus in couple of months and i am busy on the prep for when i get there.

I have been on google all day and cant seem to find the tackle i am looking for in Aus.  Will this meen I will have to import from SA to Aus.?

Will target sharks most of the time....catch and release for sure.

Tackle i am looking at on replacing  is torium 50 reel or same as..... rod would be a 8-10oz what ever i can find.

Please give me some advice here.....or am I going to be stuck with fiddle stiks and fly rods.?

If im reading your post right your moving from south africa to australia and looking for mid range overhead reels and rods ?

Most tackle stores here in australia should have a range of torium 50 or better reels in stock and quite a lot will stock a land based game rod to suit your needs. I couldnt see why you would need to import anything unless you wanted a very specific rod brand/style.

Ive not seen a rod rated in oz. Before but im guessing thats your casting weight ? Most rods here are rated by max drag pressure then a casting weight in grams. Id suggest a brand like sabre or ozflex in a 12 wrap blank might be what your after but thats a quess on my behalf

Not sure on the price but you can order them pretty easy.

Seem popular, I am eying of an uneccessary purchase of one of their lure rods. Looks the goods.

Some HUGE rays Pulled in on these beachmasters, sure they would suit for sharks.

Cheers,

These are plenty of good tackle shops in South Oz mate, you will be able to get anything you need there, Sportfishing Scene always have a huge range if you are based in Adelaide.

If the reel size is important

If the reel size is important for you, just a heads up that new Torium models go to 30. Not sure if they're going to add a 50 eventually, but the new ones use a frame similar to the trinidad A series and there's not a 50 size of them either. Also, if you're coming from SA, planning on sliding out big baits, and have a multipiece rod you might want to bring the rod with you...there's more choice in Oz now than a few years ago, but rods for sliding still aren't too common and can be quite expensive.
