XL pike..

Plan was a herring fish . With water dirty

only managed a handful . Chucked on some

lures for a pike troll . First lap my mate pinned

a beauty of 98cm weighed 4kgs on the money.
picked up another 3 and lost one on a double

hook up . Salvaged a quiet day . Cheers

Used to fish Treasure Cove at Hillocks on the Yorke

Tue, 2023-09-26 20:14

Off the rocks.....actually a tiny island at high tide.  Float fished mulies and that size was common. My mate caught the biggest I have ever seen after he fish hooked a very large squid on the mulie before having it utterly devoured by a monster snook which went a shade under 7kg......we had gutted and gilled the fish before being told by the owners of the farm that it was a state record but because it was cleaned did not qualify.....ooooops. Flesh always had a slight greyish tinge but tasted pretty damned good.   The location has now been declared a sanctuary zone ....

Best surf fishing bait!!
Really good catch I'll give you that much. The ones I get down rocko jetty are 25-30cm. Been getting a fair few in dongara marina the last couple of years after work.

That's a ripper snook. These bastards would give us grief on the yaks, they'd destroy leaders and plastics and cover me and everything else in slime making a stink all day long. Well done tho

Update ..

Wed, 2023-09-27 17:42

According too my mate who caught

it . The state record for giant snook

is 4.2kg caught at Hamlin bay in

1986 .. so 200 grams short of the

record !! I thought it was large

being I've been purposely targeting

them for my beach baits since

2007 .. cheers pirate.
