Photos of Yabbies covering the ground alongside Cooper Creek Nth of Ballera.
Apparently they are either feeding at night, or the water they are living in is shrinking, so nowhere to live, anyhow they are collecting them with broad mouth shovels, no net needed, most are bigger than a "Red Bull" can in length

I was working in Ballera back
I was working in Ballera back in 2000, and was talking to some of the guys who had yabbied in the creeks and was told they brought back 2 wheelie bins full back to the camp for dinner.

My bet would be a flow of contaminated water, sheep manure will do it also a lot of gas wells around there ( i think ).
Marron will do the same very often when you try and introduce them to a new location , say to a farm dam, if they do not like it they just walk out and commit suicide.
That is why it is best to leave them in a bag or cage in the new water for a week or two. Females with berries are good, they are a lot less likely to walk and suicide.
