Yamaha 4 stroke 100HP - salt build up

Hey guy

I had a look at my motor today and noticed some salt build up. I don't know much about motors, is this a problem? should I be washing out the base of the motor?

The pics are taken from the right had side of the motor.

Cheers

i noticed the same thing on my 150. sprayed a bit of degreaser in there and

put some rag on a long screwdriver and rubbed it around then washed it out.

after it was dry i gave it a spray of lanolin. hopefully it keeps it away. it looks like

it builds up because the drains don`t let all the water out if any gets in there

and it sits around this area

I would say it would be a minor gasket failure, just had a look at my F100DET and doesn't have any salt build up in that exact spot, but on the other side of the side plate, I can see on the gasket line is a tiny bit weeping through.

I just cleaned and washed it out. Was a bigger job than I thought it would be. I will keep on eye on it from now on.
