I didn't like the gimmee's the eagles got when they entered the competition and there was no way I was going to like them let alone barrack for them like so many others who dumped their Vic teams.
Along came the Dockers and having always been a South Fremantle supporter I like to keep an interest in them but when the Pies play them its Collingwood all the way.

I went to the game (as an Eagles supporter). I thought Geelong were going to get away with it there in the last quarter but it was a good fight from the Dockers. What a game to be at. I'm partly deaf now! If they can keep up that kinda pressure for the rest of the season, they should go very well I think! Good footy to watch!

I tipped the girls to beat the roos... cost me 8 out of 8 never again this year and probably the year after and after and....
Oh and can't wait for the drop in winds sometime this month so we can hit the 300-400m line and hopfuly nab a puka or two

Well done dockers they are playing a great brand of footy at the moment. As for the eagles they are a 'B' grade side at the moment the 10yr olds I'm coaching play with more urgency and passion. Very sad for this Eagles supporter, makes you want to turn the telly off and go fishing.....

At least you were treated to a high quality game, pity about the result from your perspective though. But the positive signs are there - I think at Subi the result may have gone the other way....maybe.
Not sure if you have watched a game at the Dome before, but IMO its utopia for a football fan to watch a game. I cant bare to go to Subi anymore, its an absolute s**t heap in comparison.

All those Fremantle born and bred champions that won you the '92 and '94 premierships have had sons. Pretty soon you will have a new group of freo champs that you will be able to choose under the father/son rule. The giving never ends.

Don't think most of these guys will have played enough games for there kids to qualify for father / son stuff as the rules were all changed quite a bit a few years back. I think it's 200 games to qualify now.

Perhaps the AFL will introduce a father/daughter rule....I reckon an eight year old Fremantle girl could get a game for the Eagles. Introduce a bit of hardness into your side. You can't have Hansen carrying that baton all on his own!!!!

...Eagles. The reason Cox and that dreadlocked dude were on the phone with their ruck coach was because that fat Sumich takes up two seats on the plane and eats all the hotel food so they couldn't afford to fly the bloke over with the rest of the team.
Dockers...all last week, we heard what a great chance they were because Geelong were going to be without three of their top players. And it was a home game. It shouldn't have been as close as it was. I will be surprised if they get within 7 goals of St Kilda next week.

I'm a newbie,have read fishwrecked posts from time to time as my husband & son both have an interest in fishing.
First of all, there's nothing wrong with having a footy thread on a fishing forum as this thread was originally posted in General Discussion ..ie. talk about anything.
There's nothing wrong with a bit of friendly banter between Eagle & Freo supporters ( and other teams supporters), most people mean no harm and it's tongue in cheek. When it becomes a nasty attack on someone's personal character then that's totally wrong and uncalled for. No-one on Fishwrecked needs to hear personal grievances whatever the unknown reason is! Like Adam said, if you don't like the topic, you don't have to read it.. That said, those posts have been deleted anyway.
Back to the footy....Cut us Freo supporters some slack....We have had to listen to Eagle supporters gloating for a long long long time! Anyway I think your mob will probably have a win at home this week and it will be interesting to measure Freo up against St Kilda. Good luck to all!

Got to give credit where credit is due... well done to the dockers on Sundays game, was blooyd good listening to it while sitting out round rotto hooking into some dhu's and pinkies.
As the the mighty eagles... well slow start for us this year, but what goes around comes aroundm soon will be back in the winning circle.
One thing about Freo tho, is they have always been a 'confidence' type team, and if they remain on a winning streak will go a long way, but if they lose a couple in a row.. look out they come crashing down!
Will Natanui make all Australian in only his 2nd year in footy??? Find me a better ruckman!!!

I would be surprised if The Dockers beat the the Saints at Etihad (they don't exactly have a good record there). However what has really impressed me with the Dockers this year, is their ability to see the game out.
Yesterday was a classic example. The Dockers of old would have fallen in a heap half way through that third quarter. This bunch of guys dug deep and knocked off the reigning premiers. Yes Geelong was without Scarlett & Mooney etc etc but they are still the best team of the last few years and we beat them fair and square.
9 more from 19 rounds should see them in the finals. (Given 12 wins is about average to get in the finals)
The Eagles now need 12 from 19. MMM DONT THINK SO!
