3 Kings Bass

Bass(Wreckfish) taken in 130M from the Middlesex Bank at the 3 Kings, NZ. Tackle used was Ocea Jigger 5000P/PE8/Xzoga500 jig rod/220LB Seaguar FC Leader/Zest deep slim 470G/Gammie tuned jig assist.

Do you normally hook these right on the bottom or do come off it to hit the jigs Seansurfy?

Hey John...two cranks of the handle and the jig was nailed....I went really hard on her, giving it as much as possible to move the fish away from the reef for the first 30 seconds...then the Bass got into gear....full on power!

Bass would just about be NZ's top table fish. They are fantastic at any size and grow at least twice as big as this one. None of this fish was wasted....fillets, wings, cheeks and the frame was smoked....

didn't put it on the scales, but it felt pretty heavy holding it up. the middlesex bank is a remote undersea plateau rising out of very deep water canyons. a wild place...
