yeh bugger beach driving up here.
Went a couple of months ago and got bogged at the water line. luckily for me there was a 3mt tide coming in and within 30 minutes the water was above the door sils lucky my mate had a tractor and shitload of chain and got me out, but without that the whole ute would have been totally under within a couple of hours hahaha

not a fun fishing trip!

Just reading the post

Had a look, even though your sons in Townsville and I used to live there, and Andy I know what your talking about, but the number plates are Victorian or maybe S.A.. so interested where it's actually from, wouldn't have thought to be scared of tides doing that down there...

beach fishing

Fri, 2008-08-15 07:33

Hi Corza,  No son lives in Townsville, I think he got off internet,  don't know if its aussie land, I looked at sand isn't dark enough for new zealand as I thought it might be there.  Doesn't look like up north, next time I talk to him I'll ask.

Picture is from Kingston Sth Aussie.

There is an annual fishing comp there this was from 2 years ago, a freak storm blew up huge swell and 14 cars were destroyed during the night. The beach is about 100km long from Kingston to the (coorong) mouth of the Murray River.

I'd imagine that Van would have taken some fair effort to get it out.

You would expect

Fri, 2008-08-15 13:32

it could be the Coorong given the number of vehicles that access it - and they do look like SA plates. A mate did a similar thing with a week old Holden ute at Cape Keraudren - and somwhere out to sea off Pardoo is a hire troopy a German tourist thought he could drive to Java.

Plate on the wagon on left

Mon, 2009-03-30 20:29

Plate on the wagon on left WPW 825 is consistant with SA rego the blue letters/numbers on the (now) crummydore on right would be a gov reg vehicle here in SA (wonder if he had problems explaining that to the boss) as mitta say's it does look like the 100 mile beach up from Kingston (which is the southern side of the murray mouth and coorong.

Despite our relatively small tides you'd be supprised what can happen (storm doesn't help any).  Up at my dads at Wallaroo you can drive down onto the nice hard sandy and shallow beach and suntan next to the car when the tide is out.  Usually 30+ vehicles each weekend on the beach over summer.  Now and then one gets bogged by the incoming tide (not to that extent though).  Trouble is the water seeps in under the sand slightly ahead of where it is on top and the sand once wet gets soft quick and cars start to sink if your not careful.

 Just popped up in the

Mon, 2014-06-30 22:32

Just popped up in the randoms. This reminds me of a mate who tried to rescue another mate that bogged himself in the mud at Nickol river in karratha. Instead of driving in the tracks of the bogged car, he decided in his wisdom he would make his own tracks.  He also needed rescuing.
