I went out on Friday chasing marlin for four hours. Big lures for big fish. About thirty minutes into it..... double hookup...... Wahoo and mahi, bastard fish.... Any other day and I'd be cheering. Three mahi later and I was pulling my hair out. Funny how you can chase fish and come home with a lame esky and other days you catch so many of a species that you are frustrated because they aren't the right ones. Wahoo eight miles out from the reef often equates to expensive marlin lures being destroyed..... I ended up relenting and left two marlin lures close to the boat and put the the 6kg rod out with a rictor jelly babe, hoping a marlin wouldn't hit it. Unfortunately nothing hit it but that's fishing. Next time for the marlin......
