Big Bluey East of Albany

Big Bluey East of Albany

For those of you that know Cheynys, here's an article that appeared in the local press. Another chap (Bats) caught a stonker of the stones elsewhere.

Apparently crabs are doing the damage. Would be interesting to see how Gulps go on an appropriate jig head.

It would want to be one very big strong jighead Colin, that's for sure! As for gulps, that would be interesting yes but i reckon they would be very wary of such imitation but anythings possible!

Yeah, I think you are right about the Jighead Ryan. I haven't yet been lucky enough to even have one on the line, but I here they go hard. I know the guys of the stones are using PE6 gear as a minimum.

I also here they're pretty crafty beasts and not easily fooled. So not sure the softy crab alternative would be the goods. Worth a try though.

All going well, should get the boat back this week and if next weekend is right I have a spot and cunning plan to try...

100lb handline if there fussy drop down to a 50lb,some orange crabs making sur you rip the legs in half as they tend to pull the crab by there legs so its no where near its mouth, let them swim of with the crab for 5/10mtrs and then strike then bloody hold on.

Sound advice Dan and from experience evidently. I'll certainly keep the tip on the crab legs in mind. Cheers for that!
