Beer Bottle Necks Sherbs

Thu, 2008-07-03 08:02

Caught a few like that up at Carnarvon. I was told they could snap the neck of a beer bottle. The ones we caught, we had in an esky (obviously) and the caravan owner's stupid german sheppard stuck it's long snout in there. Not for long! Crunch!....ype...ype....ype.......poor dog, but funny still. Dog was (eventually) alright, after he's circumnavigated the caravan park about three times!

I have seen them do it Colin

WE caught a few once and my dad knocked the esky over and they crawled under the dinghy seat. So he stuck a long neck under the seat and it came back without a long neck.

Anyone that's held one of those suckers by the nippers know's there strength. First time we fished for them off the canarvon jetty was with standard (string) drop nets (didn't know any better then Embarassed - first timers). Drop nets lasted abut 5 seconds LOL! Ended up with two wire loops connected by one piece of string. DOH!!

Nippers

We have had these buggers hoist themselves out of a 20 litre bucket and disappear. Great to catch with a hook by hand at low tide, better to eat even though i get a reaction for 30 minutes or so. Whoever digs up the front garden at my old house in East Vic Park could a surprise - 3 big whole muddies i buried there after a Chescold failure on the way home from up north
