Big squid/little fella

Big squid/little fella

Great squid for Andrew yesterday. 1.4kg on the scales. He was stoked when he got it in. The buggers were that hungry he even had 2 on the one jig at one point...thought he had caught the bottom :-)

Cheers

Great work. Congrats to the young fella. A day to remember. I can't wait until my lad is old enough to do the same (for longer that five minutes).

That thing could have pulled you off the boat. And provide enough black stuff to top up dad's oil in the reservior.

Well done and it was nice out there.

Got 4 nice snaps.

Well done young man. Ask for your award next time you see me!!!

Cheers fellas. It sure

Cheers fellas. It sure tasted good along with the others. Was worried being so big it would be a tad tough (rings the size of a fan belt)  but it was yum. Just got to teach him how to clean them himself now, hate that job :-)

Neels... saw one bloke come into the ramp at the same as us and there was ink from arsehole to breakfast time...every part of the boat and him were black. He had the squid in a live tank setup on the transom. I asked if he was going to keep them for bait or something along those lines and he said to the contrary "I don't want my esky to get dirty". Classic!!! Could be a Darwinism entry for your other thread.

Cheers

Nice work there Mullows. We managed 14 on Saturday arvo with some nudging the 1kg size, it's so awesome when a school of 8 squid all huge are behind your boat. The poor polycraft went from white to black! My bro has now learnt the technique for keeping the boat clean! Do you iki Jimi your squid?

G'day Neels

I heard your favorite method for cleaning squid is to flick them onto the jetty and aim them at the only other person around.  I donated the shirt and pants to the bin and still trying get the black stuff out of my ear.

It was great to meet you and thanks for a very memorable night at Learmonth jetty.  You freely shared your vast knowledge of fishing and helped supply a good feed of calimari for the boys.  I had the BBQ running hot until early hours of the morning with salt and pepper calamari, receiving awesome reviews.  OK maybe a little too much pepper!!

Thanks again for a great night

Mark F

PS Nice catch young fella, keep a lookout for Neels

Hey Bruceta, I have a bucket

Tue, 2010-07-13 19:48

Hey Bruceta, I have a bucket in the esky in the ice. Just throw them in there and they can ink as much as they like with little or no mess. Then when we pull up to a beach we just pull the bucket out and clean them there in the water. The burley from that usually brings in all sorts of fish to chuck a lure at in the process. As much as I love fishing for fish you just can't beat the fun of squidding when the kids are on.

Cheers
