This is the bigger one that took a chunk out of the other one. Probably just short of a kg. Thats a Yo-Zuri Aurie Q #2.5 jig

Thats good advice

Thats good advice Col,,growing up in Busselton i used to look for the squid ink stains on the jetty,,some spots would have a lot more ink than others(good consistent spot),,,you could gauge the approx size of what was recently landed also by the amount of ink.

You could also tell if theres alot of squid about or if they are scarce by the amount of fresh ink.

Looking for patches of scales could tell you also if the mulloway or salmon are running for instance

So yeah,,check out the jettys and ramps at the river and look for fresh scales and ink,,you will see things others pass over on and hopefully find yourself some top spots,,,

That is funny!

Made me remember the days back when I fished mostly fresh water.  I had my fav spots, but to make sure other folks fished else where, I would bring the bigger fish around to other spots and scrap off some scales.  The scale hunters would  then see the scales and deduce that it was a good spot and fish there! LOL!

i reckon it doesn't work

i reckon it doesn't work with squid that way alfred. By the time you bring the squid to the other spot, it probably would have exhausted the ink. lol! they squirt as u bring them up anyway
