Biscyane sambo

Finally landed a sambo on the ryobi that pulled drag. Seems last sambo jigging season the big fish either jumped on other gear or pinged me off.
Was hard going getting one to bite though. 2 knot drift thanks to the current, so the skipper (Tonyb) had to hold the boat just above idle. I could see fish follow the bite up, but not hit it. Very finicky even though they were there. Landed 1 for 3 hookups.

From Lancelin. We were going out targetting the usual bottom fish with Biscayne marked as a detour on the way back in. With 2 knots of current it made fishing pretty hard though (2.3 without seaanchor, 2.0 knots with 2 sea anchors)

That's interesting Paul
On my only trip there the Sambos were just about leaping into the boat. So much so that Honshu was using a popper to try and hook a big one. I wonder why they weren't on the bight?
