Chinook Salmon from Canada
Well, last opportunity for a fish in Canada. Quick trip out for a troll in 130 ft of water (American influence is big in Canada.....).
Quite day but very pleasant, with temps of around 29 degrees...about 90 something F for the seppos......tempting to jump over the side of the boat, but water temps in the low teens and reports of a few Orca's in the area put paid to that (Great Whites around Rotto are one thing....but a big arse mammal that swims pretty well, has big teeth and is smarter than me................thats another thing!).
One nice spring Chinoon Salmon was landed by one of my mates who lives over here, went 17 lb. Went pretty hard on the standard Cannuck "Alvey Style" reels, poxy palm assisted drag and 25 lb string...
Back in Oz in a few days, will miss the spectacular Canadian scenery but looking forward to some Oz fishing action again.

Nice fish, its a pity you
Nice fish, its a pity you weren't here when there was more snow around. I think it peaked at 31.5 yesterday, which explains the lack of snow :P
I'm hoping to head out again in a few weeks time for some of those.

Shame about the snow for sure, but hoping to get back for a bit of skiing at Whilster early next year.

awesome
Thats a solid fish and as Pete has said, looks like you would have been attending to that rod in the back ground pretty quickly. What type of lures do you troll in 130ft of water over there?

Those rods are loaded up
Those rods are loaded up like that as standard, they are rigged on a downrigger with the addition of a flashes(like a teaser) mid line. Which means they permanently look loaded up, Just wait till they hook a fish ;)
Most guys here use basic lures for trolling here, single barbless hooks only, no trebles so you lose a few fish. Similar to wobblers/twistys back home.
