Cod Damn

Cod Damn

After numerous bite offs and dropped fish today Mako finally got his Cod on the last drift of the day. (Was getting a bit worried he might miss out).

Only problem was he didnt get all of it. One of the friendly biteys decided to take a chunk out of it. Lucky it wasnt any of the good bits and it just gutted it for us.

No secret Dean

Just read the sounder book and read it again and again then take trips over the three mile and the sand patches and broken ground and pretty soon you know what reef/rock/sand/weed/limestone etc look like. Even on a black and white sounder you can pick a fair bit out, its just a lot harder to read flat coral. I also crank it up in manual mode so it shows what I am looking for.
Since I fish inside the bank in no more than 45m or so, a broadband unit should deliver the best definition I can get for the type of fishing I am doing.
Have the funds allocated and the OK from the minister for finance so its just a matter of time. Its been hard to justify when we do pretty well without it but now that the bans are in I want something that I can find flat coral with and also find some deep water (30m plus) KG country.

Got cod too. Just didnt bother getting pics this time.

Was more interested in getting the deckie onto fish. Left his run till the last moment and nearly missed out after dropping some good fish earlier.
