Yeh mate, I dont tow heavy

Tue, 2013-04-16 21:58

Yeh mate, I dont tow heavy tho. Im a mechanic so it's a no brainer for me, but even so, why would I want to pay more for something that's noisy, vibrates at idle, stinks, more prone to issues, requires more frequent servicing, pay more per litre of fuel, just to get a few more kays out of a tank? I could just fit a longrange tank. The 1GR-FE has proven itself super reliable and suits my needs along with comfort and grunt. I would be more comfortable being commuted by that donk than the diesel, like fullnoise says down below, it only takes one load of shit fuel and you're in the shit. If I had a diesel, Id be draining my filter very regularly, and changing it often, even upgrading it, and even if metro driven. And if its got a DPF, piss it off. Id put a swirl pot/catch can for the engine breather, every diesel's intake is full of oil and Id block of the egr if it has one. Only one thing for petrol engines, dont use std unleaded. Ahh there's my spill, happy days, Im tryn to convice the mrs that we NEED a TRD lux haha, if it wasnt for not wanting campin gear on the roof, Id be huntin down one of those FJs for sure, the old farts can drive the Prados haha

Std is a lower octane dirtier

Std is a lower octane dirtier fuel. Premo will prevent pinging, burns cleaner (less carbon), and better for your fuel system

Tue, 2013-04-16 16:37

Yeh couldn't agree more Its fun to drive too,  I wanted a lux but they were a bit pricey from new, got all the power I need and no problems with bad fuel and blowen turbos don't get me wrong do like the diesel, but so many problems with water in the juice up north and problems so ill stick to the petrol.... V8 would be sick !!!!!

LED Bars

Wed, 2013-04-17 16:30

Most blokes dont realise that the large light bars cannot be fitted to vehicles. The smaller ones can but only in pairs.

Something to think about when the boys in blue pull you on about it.

I do believe you but can't

Wed, 2013-04-17 18:50

I do believe you but can't you just fit a opaque plate in the centre on the larger LED bar to simulate 2 lights. eg easily distinguishable as a pair at 200m ?

I would like to see the rule that make them illegal. EG ADR 13/00

Check Road Traffic (Vehicle Standards) Rules 2002

http://www.slp.wa.gov.au/pco/prod/FileStore.nsf/Documents/MRDocument:23719P/$FILE/RoadTrfcVhleStandRu2002-01-b0-02.pdf?OpenElement

Part 8

Section 70 through 77

Under the rules, driving lamps are regarded the same as headlights and must meet the same requirements.

Good question though about blocking out the centre of the light bar. At a guess, I would still say it wouldnt pass.

cheers

Light bar

Sun, 2013-04-28 23:07

I know it's not legal to have spotties on the roof but if their covered I think it's ok and they have to be on a separate switch to your high beams ( I think ), I haven't been hastled by the cops an its been on for abt a year a lot of ppl don't even notice it tucked away up their, it does stand out like dogs balls in this photo though

Cops might give you a fine

Sun, 2013-04-28 23:38

Cops might give you a fine for the Bullbar Rodholders, i know a few of my mates(and even other FWrecked members) that have been fined for them, and i personnally years ago was caution for them. Guess it depends on the Cop and what mood he/she is in. Fine for offroad, but remove them for onroad and save yourself a fine.

Great looking rig though. You have fun trying to keep the black colour clean/streak free? :)
