i cant tell u exactly were i got them (not too sure myself) but matilda bay boat ramp then i went around to my right then i ran a line of pots from the channel to shore ....if that makes sense...... sort of like i did a circle around the bay....i think i am confusing myself .
i know where you are talking about as i launch there quite often,
i did not measure him as he went straight back in, i was after prawns and am not that keen on crabs, but he was way over just by looking, much bigger than what i normaly get when i go to mandurah with the kids.
just go on the outgoing tide at night fall and hope for the best. bigger tide the better.
set up some good lighting... when i used to go in my tinny i would take the camp jenny and a couple of 150w flodlights, rough as, but it works, get a few strange looks as well.
i do the same in the big boat now just a little neater.
after a little bit of rain should make it better as well, but it has mostly to do with the tide.
we have also been getting some nice tailor while we are waiting, just floating a mulie out with a float other wise the ray are hammering it within minutes
yer i live close to the airport so it is a bit closer for me.
normally put in at maylands, and cruise up the river to east freo (opp the east freo boat ramp)or i use the ramp you used, either way its a good day/night out with the kids,
with bigger boat, now we sleep the night and i dont have to worry about driving home after having a few (after we have tied up for the night) and with the little cooker on board who can say no to some fresh garlic king prawns...mmmm.....drooling at the mouth now.
cant wait to try again, just had a look at the tides and not to good for this weekend but i might give it a go anyway.

Nice
Nice going mate. I bumped into a few people at the Pt Walter ramp who had struggled to get any.
There are some great sizes there
