Douglass Craft Update

Douglass Craft Update

Well it has now been a few weeks since the rebuild finished  and the sea trials proved to be successful. Thanks to All Boats for doing a superb job on fixing the miss at 2700rpm, the boat cruises at 3200 and 22knots. I have managed to push it to 5400 and 42knots, but we think with a little more fine tuning on the trim, and maybe a greater pitch prop, presently 17, it could go faster! Although, 42 is pretty scary at that speed. Dont get me wrong, the hull rides beautifully and handles chop brilliantly, just the water is moving too quick for an oldie like me. lol.

Forgot to mention, after the first run in the river, I went and weighed both the boat and trailer. It came out at 1360kg gross. Previously, I weighed just the trailer and found it to be 460kg. 900kg for boat and motor and about 30lt of fuel is considerably light for a 150hp. Be interesting to see how she will perform with a few of my mates onboard for the first serious fish!!

Well done mate.  I'm sure it must feel pretty good cruising around in your rebuilt rig after all the hard work.  Looking good too!

Yeh, the young boy reckons it is far better than our old rig. Faster and quieter. Will look at repainting the outside next winter, thinking possibly light blue or off white. Saw that thread on the International paint. Might give that a try.
