 cheers danno, the yozuri

 cheers danno,

the yozuri flash dance in 3.25 and pink and also the yamashita 3 Q live in a natural colour where the jigs catching.

With the number 7 being unlucky - i went last night and landed 10 before being muscled out by some inconsiderate people. didnt mind moved on and landed another 4 or 5. Kept the larger ones as i dont need that many.

Was that also at fishermans

Was that also at fishermans boat harbour??? If so ive been there and caught three squid in a row and all the people around me hadnt caught anything so they started casting in front of me so i was just putting in short casts say 3m in front of the rocks and i got another 4 before they got so close. At one point i had a guy trying to stand on the same rock as me and cast by that stage i was so annoyed and i was like no way are you standing on my rock and casting infront of me. Some people are so rude on the rocks and jetty's if they changed there techniques they might have gotten sum but no so i was getting them all. Any way one of the best jigs for that spot ( only been there twice but it produced both times) is the Yamashita Naory 2.2 Glow pink. It is a kick butt jig for other places like woodies as well.

What gear are you using to squid with?

danno it was the fishermans

Sun, 2011-05-15 19:26

danno it was the fishermans harbour. I couldnt believe it when it happened. there were 3 separate groups that did it. After landing a few next to them they were cross casting over lines. i was ready to push one in the water. So bad that a mate was tangled and as he walked to untangle his jig his spot was stolen although his gear, bag and drink where still there.

For my gear im using a Daiwa luvias 2500 with 4lb nitlon, a cheap rod Shimano catana 6'6 2-4kg and im using 8lb daiwa flouro wind on for extra insurance . I have to invest in a rod as the past week has been my first egi sessions.

Good stuff mate. Yer some of the peoplke down there on weekends gets pretty intense, I fish there on week nights with less people around then. But yer for that area smaller jigs are the go i recon as most of the squid there are small.

Have you tryed woodies yet? How much gear do you have?

I havent tried woodies yet

Mon, 2011-05-16 07:24

I havent tried woodies yet danno.

The harbour spot is alot better on weeknights for sure, However not all of them are small. Saturday i kept 3 squid and with hoods at 19cm 21cm and 22cm it wasnt all that bad. My Pb was caught and substancially bigger than the 22cm hooded squid.

I only have the one rod and a few jigs. the jog collection is starting to grow though. We should arrange a meet up one weeknight and hat a session.

Whats your pb? I would love to but i can get out anytime soon as my mums and my mates cars are both broken down. But if i get down there id love to meet up and have a session together. Be careful tho as this squidding thing gets addictive:)
