Escape of the Whiting

Escape of the Whiting

We had relatively big tides up here in Exmouth over the last couple of days. This photo is the little lake next to Tantabiddi boat ramp. When the tide is high enough the water floods in. At one stage there was a school of hundreds of whiting, threadfin salmon and mullet and all sorts that got washed in and had to do the salmon run 50 meters back to the ocean when the tide came in high enough. Whilst I was interviewing, I got Janna my girlfriend to help a few poor buggers that got stuck on the sand. There were a couple of good fish amongst them too, would have been awesome live bait, some of the whiting would have been good plate size too. Easy to catch with the hand as well. Pretty amazing sight while we were sitting there. I didn't have my video camera which was a dam shame, would have made some good viewing.
