First LB Pink - From a Metro Beach!
Headed back to the same spot I tried a couple days ago hoping for similar rewards, this time with the GF in tow.
The first hour was very quiet until after sunset when the tarwhine came on the bite with the mrs landing 3 solid ones around the 30cm mark.
8:30 came and went and not much else had appeared, the GF snagged her rod and lost the rig so I retied with a gang of 2 hooks and the head half of the last scalie we had (were using blue macks also) and chucked it out. I was about to hand the rod back to her (not really ) when I had a solid take and set the hooks into a reasonable fish. It just sat in the same spot and shook its head for what seemed like ages before taking a screaming run towards the nearest reef.
I could feel my line chafing but I upped the pressure and managed to drag it out. Not long after I washed it up with a wave and got to take in my first landbased Pinky! I felt a bit lucky as the hooks fell out as soon as I took the pressure off when it had washed up - a good lesson to always keep the line tight when fighting a fish!
I'd gotten up at 4am the day before and fished a rockwall for hours without luck and then I get one off a local beach without even trying for one!
Anyway long story short I'm pretty stoked, went 71cm on the brag mat and couldn't have asked for better company to land it with.
