First prawns!

5 from the 6 that I saw in the Swan last night. First night dive in 28 years! Really glad I had 2 torches, as one died on me 10 min into the dive. The little UK is truly a back up light, got to get a real torch if I intend to do more night dives!

Ive done recent night freedives for crabs (last may) but on bottled air it certainly is a bit more exciting.
Must say I'm even less of a fan of that silt at night, at one stage I wasn't sure if my light was on or not at one point.
There were a gazillion crabs down there, but none size. I also bagged a mantis shrimp, whacky looking little bugger.
Very little current at the coombe, keen to try near the bicton baths sometime, I hear its a bit sandier on the bottom.

There were lots of crabs, some that I saw were definitely size.
Tide was high, current wasn't bad, or didn't seem so.

The mantis shrimp did indeed tangle, I had to give him a squeeze because he got stuck and I couldn't get him up the net.

Good work Alfred. I'm loving the prawn diving at the moment. Yep Pete D knows his stuff, A great guy to get you into it. You sure do need a good torch, I'm running a Super8 with eight D cells blinding the little buggas when I find them. I also have a mini-Q strapped to my mask and I carry another small torch in case it all goes to custard. I might see you down there some time.
Three days without it and I get a little jumpy
The best reason for doing what's right today is tomorrow.

Good to see you back into it Alfred. Every trip will help you get "at one" with the prawns and numbers can only get better but just a tip, you'll catch more prawns if Pete's not in the water

....and that was a hard night in my books. Vis was the worst that I've seen for a long time. Some idiot forgot his wetsuit
....lucky Im tough and the water was a balmy 23.
Saw plenty of crabs and some good sized ones which I would of bagged if I didn't have naked legs!
Good to catch up Jamie and Alfred. The better torch will make a huge difference to your catch rate too.
