We c aught a few of them up at rowley shoals and our skipper called them south african snapper might be a nickname other than that im not to sure .Good eating tho

looks a bit like the emperor in the body shape. looks like it would have given you a nice fight too

ive seen a few pics of these guys in the SDM mag...... i thinkkkk its called a buffalo emporer or something similar??? dont quote me tho
looks like a pretty solid fish - lutjanid family also if it is a buffalo so gotta be pretty good on the tooth

Orange-spotted Emperor (also called Orange-finned, Yellow-finned, Yellow-spotted)
Lethrinus erythracanthus (some books still call it L. kallopterus)
occurs from Africa right across to the GBR (including northern WA)
