it can be a great place to fish
when the tailor runs are on.
You see some strange things like convoys of guys in 4wds driving up and down the beaches until they see someone hooked up and then they all swarm. Have also seen big Tiger Sharks almost beaching themselves while chasing tailor in the shallows.

Would you call that pinging on the run, the tiger sharks would have been interesting to watch

Tiger sharks interesting to watch
...especially if they switched their attention from the swarms of tailor to the swarms of lazy opportunistic land based ping pongers.

The crazy thing is if you are willng to put the time in
there you can find good schools of tailor to yourself while all the idiots are fishing shoulder to shoulder.

Always the way #1
Even as a kid, I rmember fishing for skippy, tailer and blue mackeral off the north wharf - people would go past you and if you happened to hook up, they start fishing right next to you. When I finally got my first car, I would cart down enough rubbish to surround myself with about a meter of cr*p - just to give myself space.
Thats why we have ping on the water - people are lazy and opportunistic.
