Shimano Jewel, What a Rod!!!!

Shimano Jewel, What a Rod!!!!

Used this little rod and reel on my recent trip to Exmouth, Broome and Middle Lagoon with plastics and lures.

What a great combination.

Shimano Jewel and Daiwa Sol 2500, two spools one with 6lb braid, the other 10lb braid.

Great Fun

I had the OH which ended up

Thu, 2010-07-15 11:25

I had the OH which ended up snapping on a GT at the Mackies, yep don't go to a gun fight with a pen knife I hear ya! However couldn't stop in snaffling the soft plastic and still ended up boating the bruiser after a bloody long tussle. Because I loved the rod so much bought the same to replace it the other week and this one snapped on its first outing, no highsticking nothing.. pissed off. Need to find my receipt take it back in and see what the boys have to say. I hope it was a dud because the last one rocked my socks!

Cobia on Jewel

Thu, 2010-07-15 20:22

Hi Lamby,

I love this little rod,

Boated a 15kg Mackie, 35min and followed it all over Exmouth Gulf, also brought a 1.25m Cobia to the boat before the hook broke.

As my mates at Tackleworld keep saying, DON'T High stick it.

Also have fallen in love with the Shimano Lucanus Rod, thanks Twitchemup, more confused savings than ever.

Absolutely no highsticking

Thu, 2010-07-15 21:04

Absolutely no highsticking occurred in this instance and I think that the rod blank could have possibly been faulty but this will be checked out. 1st rod was a pearler catching a heap of fish metro and was given serious punishment up north; cobia, queenies, gold spot etc. Couldnt fault it and the GT was always going to ruin me, I still wake up in the middle of the night with a cold sweat geez I loved that rod!
