Kasey L is right. latin name of french amberjack is seriola dumerili. It's could go up to 80 kg, but I never heard that's one more 57 kg was catch in France. More, French people doesn't trust in jigging. So they fish it with trolling technique. In my shop, I work hard to develop jigging. I think this last fish is the biggest catch with jig in France. But I hope we'll able to have best score.
I catch it with a Zenaq fooketoo 53 12 (60 lbs), a saltiga 6000 gt with multifilament power pro 50 lbs, and a blue 230 grammes jig, a Knife river 2 sea. I use frequently masamune smith 155 grammes and nagamasa 230 grammes. I make my own assist hook (between 10/0 to 13/0)with fisherman hook and Varivas or IGK "line".
Usely, I move my jig not very quickly, except this moment were I was very fast. 10 minutes after, my dream was on boat.
We go to jigging session one a week with fredo, between 30 meters to 120 meters and we catch differents others species like "denti", barracuda and pelamide (little tuna). I will send you other photos.
I hope every guys are well.
I need to learn more about jigging technique. so How do you jig in your country ???
Thanx all for your input re: Latin name. Its the only way of correctly identifying a fish hoju. It also gives indication of relatives to that fish ( ie similar , but not identical)

Amberjack
Any idea of the Latin name of the fish. It looks a lot like the Australian "Seriola Hippos" or the South Africa "Seriola Llandii"

Were you fishing with Fredo and did he get into any as well?
102lb is big by anyones standards, what is the record over in France for these fish?
What type of jig did you use to nail this one?
Cheers
