Thats a beauty mate, how was the battle? I can imagin that fish crawling up to that YUMMY LOOKING popper! Is that popper a Haymaker? I never found any popper with scale patterns on them.
Yes there is a difference , the exxy one's sit in the water properly for blooping and are weighted to help when casting so it doesn't tumble etc when cast and the cup face is shaped to throw the water out etc , cheap poppers havn't got the research put into them like the good lures have .
Check out the face on a Rooster , you will see how much has gone into refining it to be just about perfect ( personally I recon they could weigh a little bit more )
Just a PS on my last post , I and a few others I know are in the middle of making our own poppers and are now learning that there is more to making a good popper than just turning a bit of wood into a popper , much much much more into making a popper that flies right , sits right , bloops right and can take a beating .
I have a long way to go before I post up any that are worthy of fishwrecked .
I am keeping detailed notes of all that I do , the stuff that works and the stuff that doesn't ,
if I don't get it right by the time I die I'll hope my son can carry on .

looks expensive. Do you
looks expensive. Do you note a big difference in the catch rate from the cheaper ones to the more expensive ones.
