Handline bluey

Handline bluey

Trying to crack the handline/shallow water bluey code, lost a couple that may have been decent, certainly not easy fishing as they know how to find the reef.

Nice one, Ive had a 100lb

Nice one, Ive had a 100lb handline in me boat since a job I did in Headland 10 years ago. Kept it in there for release weight and any other emergency that pops up.

Remember baiting it up one night when on anchor during a snapper sesh as felt I was a rod short...first thing to go peeling lol hard work getting that line through the hands when the fish are going nuts.

Good fun.

Line strength

Want to be at least 200lb  handline, --not for strength but for sufficient diameter to get a good grip on. Big ball running sinker right down to the hook and hook size around 8/0.

As soon s you feel the bite you give it all you have, not letting the fish have an inch otherwise you are gogetting your hook and sinker back out of the reef

 Memories!!Those buggers go

Tue, 2023-04-11 07:27

 Memories!!

Those buggers go HARD.

Started trying to catch them on Rod and gave up. Used what Carnarvonite said and caught a few that way.

I used small crabs caught under rocks at back beach (they looked like miniature mud crabs but wasnt) and glued the circle onto their backs. Lots of effort but worked OK.
