The recent crusier rescued of rocks at Mindarie.
Destined to be a total right off , I feel .
Oily water mark infront of the forward lift strap ,shows how far under she's been.

Fix it
Being glass they will fix it with out any problems. Pull both motors and boxes out and re do all the wiring and electrics.
Too much money involved to write it off.

Maybe
I was down at the lifting yard the other day and had a look at her.
Both rudders snapped off and lost .
Both props with blades missing .
Both shafts knacked and bent up .
Both shaft brackets have punched 10 square holes through
the hull.
Two big holes punched through the hull by rocks along the keel line.
Motors, boxes and pretty much anything that wasn't in the nose underwater.
If they manage to fix her ......I wouldn't want her !

Cray Rope
The story goes that the boat left hillarys around midnight to travel back to Mindarie
and fauled on a cray rope .........then drifted ot the reef .
When sea rescue got there around 2 am the boat was well and truly on the reef.
I think there are a few different versions of events ..........but this is the one they went with.

Actually was in contact with the owner at 2.30 in the morning and that is what happened..
Stilly if you had to wait that was me sitting on the jetty having bears and chips that would have spoken to.
Yeah the boat is a mess..

Anchor???
If they were drifting what happened to the anchor. Not sure how they drifted onto the reef on the beach when there was an easterly blowing. Got this info from the rescue crew.

They actually got the rope
They actually got the rope caught around the prop shaft, in the time it took to clear it they got disorientated and as he took of to drive again he hit the reef. He was only very close to the Marina and i don't believe he was on the beach as you have said.
Most of the damage was caused IMHO pulling the boat of the rocks. It should in my opinion have been pulled of back wards not side ways. I have picks and you can see drag marks and holes from the boat going sideways in a arch pattern.
Its very easy in a Sports cruiser to get lost in the dark. Visibilty is not ideal.

Plotter
Surely a boat that size would have a plotter?? How could you get disorientated?

Bow or Stern
Couldn't have been dragged sideways ,must have been pulled by the bow or stern.
I guess with the boat being washed onto the reef it could have ended up pointing in any direction. It probably pulled sideways to straighten it up and then dragged off.
Either way she's stuffed now !
Might look nice cruising around the gascoyne Carnarvonite ?

Cruising
Could see it sitting in Hospital bay over the islands with me sipping a nice cooollld can.
At a rough guess without seeing hull damage would expect to cost somewhere in the range of $30-$40k to have it repaired not too bad on a $150+k boat

It is hard to imagine but
It is hard to imagine but honestly its hard work driving at night in a enclosed cab. You need to be very good with your electronics and on top of them all the time. Then you need to trust that you know what your doing. Many night crossings to Rotto and back with less than 10% vis and you get used to it.
The hard part to repair is they are a foam sandwich ( of some kind) design so makes for structual work to be quiet tricky.
I will say this it was a very nive boat.
Had 4 big screen telles and the guy is gutted.
But with boats Shit happens..Just happens worse to some than others.
