The lateral line on a baracuta goes from the tail and finishs behind the dorsal fin the this one goes the full lenght of the fish but curls up tjen back down under the third spine of the dorsal fin
We took one side off, took a look at it and then decided to put it in the bin, looked horrid. Having said that we also had a good ruby as well and had heard that the oily flesh can give you the shits or something.

doesnt have the reflective eye of a gemfish, prob not a barra at that depth
ID say snake mack, my best guess , just going off the net ( haha very accute)
