Jigged Up Exmouth Cod - POTM
Submitted by nickyau2 on Fri, 2013-05-03 07:30
Here's a pic of an Estuary Cod that I jigged up in Exmouth over easter. Measured 1.1M so was released to swim another day. After being reefed by something good and bitten on by a mackie on good jigs I switched over to a cheap 125gram raider and jigged up this beauty on a new Giant King PE1-3 and old stradic FH 5000 running 20lb.

solid fish!!! You can lift it
solid fish!!! You can lift it tho so they get much bigger! We got a couple in Exmouth we couldnt even lift into the boat.. over 1.5m, one estimated at 60-70 kilo. Even on PE5 it was a 20 minute mission.
Solid fish on light gear!

Cheers fellas. Luckily I
Cheers fellas. Luckily I think he followed the jig up of the bottom else i would have had no chance. Put up a good fight but managed to knock him over in a few minutes as it was shallow water only 16m. Wish the stradic could put out more drag as the rod could give more. Brilliant rod though. Guessing it was only 15-20kg so easily lift able, wasnt an overly fat fish
