It was a bit too nice Russ and Sandy

A slight offshore and glassy water didn't make ideal tailor fishing conditions. But it was great to meet John and Alex, and catch up with Vince and Joe. And Flat Rocks is such a great place to go to, even if the fishing is quiet.

no need for the shovel today

Sat, 2010-02-13 22:12

no need for the shovel today i hope. The tackle shack already has its sandpit. you dont need to catch fish to have a great day by the water when the weather is like today but the fish just make it a bit better

Never a dull moment

No digging for Sherbs this time but he did put on his superman cape and rescue a couple of stragglers. He even had time for an hour or so of casting lessons.

It's a good job I set a slick the size of an oil spill as everyone did manage a decent hit of Herring, Whiting and the odd Gar. About this time the slick will be working well off the East coast of Africa.

It was a fine morning and great to catch up.

Glad you did some converting

Tue, 2010-02-16 20:07

Glad you did some converting the next day Joe, all I managed was an undersize dhuey, although Alexander managed a good black arse Embarassed

Thanks to Steve and Colin for putting up with us in on the way up and way back Wink, for the casting lessons and to Joe for loan of rigs for whiting and Vince for the IMMENSE burley slick.

It was an excellent day out. There may have only been Joe catching Tailor, but we had our fill of big Herring (one went to 35cm).They've been smokedand made into thia fishcakes that went down very well with the kids.

This may seem like small fry to most people, but for me and Alexander this quite an adventure. We've only been in Oz a year and have been confined mainly to rock walls and the odd metro beach, so to get out in a 4wd and end up fishing on a beautiful deserted beach which to us could have been a couple of hundred k's away, was a dream come true and was only possible to the kind hearted generosity of the lads who I mentioned earlier and being put into contact with them through an excellent forum like this.

Anyway, enough of that, here's some more pictures

Colin looking distraught over the Tailor situation with Alexander in the background

Looking the other way down the beach

Vince's burley trail all the way to East Africa

Good spot for some fishing

Some company later on

Alexander in front of another fishy looking spot near Flatrocks we discovered during a bit of 4w driving
