MARRON ok start to the season

MARRON ok start to the season

yeh boys just back from quindaning with a few nice sized marron.  we started at noon and not a minute before.  didnt start getting any until dark though!
let some that were sized and no more go.  method was snaring, we do this because it gives more of a challenge than scoops or pots and is really rewarding when you manage to land that big fella.  all in all was a good time out on the river.  few red fin perch caught on rmg halo lures no monsters. on the marron side will just have me usual bitch.  got to one spot fresh baits out in the water been there for a day or so once again found enclosed nets in the water f**k all small marron.  these waters are getting hit f**kin hard and i cant see the marron populations surviving much longer with the 20,000 people with marron licences and the other 40,000 poaching all year round taking every thing.  i can honestly say ive never seen such a decline from harvey through to wellington dam to dwellingup rivers right through to windy. i believe there is not enough policing of the marron areas just my 2 cents please feel free to post if you agree or disagree and share some of your 2010 marroning experiences and lets hope the good outweigh the bad thankyou //salmonhunter.

hey glad you had a good time

hey glad you had a good time awsome looking marron. i dont do marroning (well been twice...

i dont think its a case of not being policed enough nore of a case not enough people policing it.

with my current job i go door to door. ive spoken to a guy that patrols a dam he reckons the might find a few people every week and they ALWAYS have 200/300 its never just one or 2 over size ( the people poaching)

so i agree with dams are not policed enough but mainly because there isnt enough people doing it due it lack of funds.
well thats also my 2cents.

Yea saw the same thing at

Yea saw the same thing at wellington dam this week. Even though the season had started already i went out fishing from the kyak and found a yabby/gilge trap tied to an old stump out in the middle of the dam!

There were no marron in it. I took the bait out and through it away. The bait that is. I left the trap there.

Luckily the fisheries didnt see me pull it up even though i wasnt doing anything wrong.

we got 8 sized marron over the ausie day went down to some blokes for a beer who where camped just down from us every thing seems no worries till later in the night i went down there and they would have had about 30-40 cackers being cooked i didnt say anything since it was to late but got me disturbed here we are with only 8 sized where they just blood rape the shit out of the undersized ones it is only snare waters they where using a chook wire scoop to get theres i am now not suprised on the rapid decline of marron and will proberly not worry about marroning next year due to the bullshit i have been seeing

That's a disgrace.  They

That's a disgrace.  They need tougher penalties as a deterant I think.  Something like $5,000 per marron would be good.  Or better still - JAIL.  This is bullshite that the people doing the righty are missing out!  AAArrrrrrrrrghhhhhh!

i know and althogh they

Thu, 2010-02-04 16:59

i know and althogh they SHOULD NOT be marroning out of season to start with they should at least eat them and take only size marron not take 70 undersized marron and leave them to dry out and die in the sun in a dry plastic bag!

But they still shouldnt be doing it anyway...
