Would like to think it's still swimming but I don't think it survived. We swam it for about an hour before letting go but it wasn't looking good. The down side to catching this size on light gear. We were fishing during Gamex week and all the taged marlin getting called in( and there were a lot of them ) were mainly in the 20 to 40 kilo range. We decided to fish a bit lighter with 15 and 24 kilo gear out and this fish took the lighter line. Unfortunately it went deep half way through the fight and it took a while to change the angle and get it up.

Revival techniques

On one of the fishing tapes I have a diver swam a marlin down that wasn't looking that flash after capture and it showed a strong recovery after a relatively short depth (20m or so).  Made me wonder if my release weight may have another use.  Food for thought perhaps.
