Cheers Gents....wasn't expecting much was a trip out to sound some patches so just took the eski instead of the Madfish bag.
Sounding turned up nothing of interest so decided to set up in the best spot possible getting the wind & tide to move the burley in the right direction, had the 2 rods out and felt a bit short so threw the old hand line out....so just after 7pm and id had enough when the handline started spinning away in the bucket it was sitting. Hard work being a while since I used a hand line, got it just to the boat seeing a slight silver flash when the bottom hook let go, I figured it for a small shark cutting the 80lb. Out went the last hand full of mulie cubes...checked the phone and thought stuff it Ill tie another rig for the handline. In it went...2min max it was spinning hard again, put a bit more effort into this one...head lamp on I seen it come boat side..yes a solid pink, missed the first gaff shot with the heart jumping up a few RPMs...second shot in she came..woohoo. spiked it, started prepping the block ice...quick photo to the wife 87cm yes...then the 4000 Okumo reel started screaming, this was a serious fight, both sides of the boat a few times thinking this is going to be a tangled mess with the other line and burley bucket. First gaff shot in she came...she was heavy and a solid 90cm woohooo again, didn't get a weight unfortunately but very happy to have landed two very solid fish...been a few years!
