Mako well out past the wave

Wed, 2009-04-01 07:47

Mako well out past the wave bouy south of green cape in 650-700 fathoms, you can only bottom bounce there when the current is not ripping, a long way to go to find that is ripping, but there is great fishing out there ,we have caught marlin. dolphin fish, wahoo y/fin, on the way home.

deep!

Wed, 2009-04-01 09:34

WOW, Harpuka in (650-700fathoms) like 1300m deep!.....makes my 400m captures look shallow Laughing

Nice puka Noel, in that depth i'm asuming electric/nuematic winches to get em up?

G'day Ryan ,yes in the deep

Wed, 2009-04-01 19:05

G'day Ryan ,yes in the deep mark we use a big reel conected to a capstain via a v belt ,with a big  weight,it's a real work of art judging the drift and the depth to get onto the marks, in the close in spots 300 fath we use big alvys on real short stroker rods,,the mates just manufactured  a 12 volt electric motor coupled to a tiagra 130 2seed with 2 different size pulleys so there is 8 ratios, should be interesting, if it works,
