Oceanside Overseas Assistance

Well my time in Pohnpei is all to quickly coming to an end. Three years ago Ryan and I sat down before I left, picked out many lures: most of which have been lost or destroyed. Over the three years I've called Oceanside and had them mail me out replacement stock and they've always had it in the mail asap. When I got here I had 'no' trolling knowledge with chasing pelagics. I'm pretty confident that I'm a little more skilled now after boating marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, dogtooth tuna, skipjack tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi, rainbow runner, barracuda, GTs and red bass.

Ongoing questions to Ryan has helped me improve the hook-up to boated ratio, even though I'm many miles away. The last order had Ryan modifying a rictor lure (as I'd just lost my last one the day before) to my specifications - based on what I've learned here. I received the lures on Friday and took them out Saturday morning. It didn't take too long for some success, unfortunately it wasn't a marlin as planned, however the modifications went a long way to helping me not loose a lure I just received.

Thanks Ryan, the effort put into the mods are appreciated, as it the prompt postage. My final Pohnpei fishing tournament is this weekend, hopefully I'll have a few more photos of fish with rictor lures in their mouth.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.
