PB Shark on spin

PB Shark on spin

Note: fish was released ASAP and was not the intended target.

Smashed my PB shark on spin with this absolute monster of a nurse!! Female Raggie about 200-230kg acording to the weight to length charts. was caught on a Anyfish Anywhere six & bait rod, 5500 expedition reel, 50lb SAS braid on a busted fishing pulley rig with a single 9/0 hook on a short bit of 49 strand wire. took about 30 mins to land on a very heavy drag. so stoked to have got such a huge shark on a cast bait and spin gear!! my back was feeling it the next day thats for sure

 Cheers guys, pulled a fair

Cheers guys, pulled a fair bit of line and was very stubborn using the waves to its advantage. It didn't have many places to go because of where we where fishing so that's why I think it didn't take long to get it but i fished the reel nearly locked the entire fight. Was caught in Albany

How do you land such a large

How do you land such a large fish without the use of a gaff? i take it you rope the tail? and how do you get it back home safely?

no tail ropes or gaffs at all

Wed, 2015-06-17 21:55

no tail ropes or gaffs at all. We use 200lb+ leaders mostly so basically one of us gets to go into waist deep water and time waves to handline the shark up with the waves and we wash it up then get hooks out while holding it in the wash, we get a quick photo while getting hooks out when a wave sucks out then next wave puts us in knee deep water again and we swim them out again. hard work and scary as shit being in chest deep water after dark with something like this but still a pretty awesome experience.
