Cheers Steve, It was a sensational take...mack hit it about 10m from us and came out like a polaris missile then went straight under the boat at a million miles an hour. For its entire first run I had the rod sticking underwater on one side of the boat with the rod tip just about showing out the other. I've gotta admit, it was 18 months ago; I just joined the sio\te and thought I'd stick up a couple of greatest hits.

Oh yeah Adam, I can still see the mack at eye level with the popper down its gob. Absolutely inhaled it. Fish was caught on the inside of Crab Island, just south of the Jardine River mouth on Cape York west coast. What made it sweeter was that it was on a mate's rod (not the Trevala featured in other posts)...he'd been on popper-casting duty at the bow for ages, then put down his rod for a breather. I picked it up and had one cast...

One Cast
haha.
The fishing gods can be funny like that. Nice fish on a popper.
