Rottnest sinking

Someone's fishing trip gone horribly wrong at Rottnest last week. The bilge pump was still working when this picture was taken but obviously couldn't keep out the water. Poor buggar - looked like a near new rig.

Thats my wifes cousins boat! Dont actually know what happened but it was something like he hit a pile of rocks at the front of the boat that he hadnt seen or something. Ive been trying to get hold of him but his phones off! Must be still copping a bit of flack id reckon. And talk about unlucky, he only just got out of hospital for a bad motorbike accident. Hope it doesnt come in threes for him!

He was actually racing his bike at barbagello raceway with some other members who are also incenced to do so and they having problems getting the insurance from the track! I think the two insurance companies are fighting each other. Looks like he wont be using his right hand for over 12months due to the accident and hes a photographer by trade, poor bloke i feel sorry for him. I think the boat is all good though.

The divers had re - floated the boat by late mornig but the whole engine block had been underwater for some time and the electronics spent a fair bit of time submerged as well. Not sure how they would be working now but it seems like the owner is going through a pretty tough run at the moment and now he's got an insurence company to deal with. Good luck to him - hope it goes well.

Sinking
I would say as a fellow boati that this is not good to see even if I put myself in he's shoes dammm.
It would be very informative to know what exactly happened so it does'nt happen to anyone else out their even myself.
Poor buggar all the best for a speedy recovery mate!
