I find the deep water jumbos really boring and usually leave them alone. This one had a sneaky hidey hole and represented a really good challenge so I had to give it a go. Initially I thought dynamite was the only way to get him!
I managed to sneak that up before racing down to Shoalwater to grab my son, then a quick spot of shopping them some IRON CHEFFING against the clock. Currently throwing down a well-earned Cooper's Pale Ale but back later to get a few more words up ;)
great effort there Jamie. but how did someone of your build wrestle a monster like that to the surface. roughly how heavy , thinking about the 3 to 4 kg mark.well done
old are these jumbos when you get one, they are very nice eating, we caught one in the pot in Leeman and it took old fart and me two days to eat big boy hhaah
Yeah I remember hearing about that time that Brad bagged out before Kasey was even in the water, weren't you on that trip as well? I wish we had them that thick down here.
For some reason its alot easier in the tropics - I remember once when I was out with Glenn I wished I had more arms! One dive down and up with three. One in each hand plus one more under the arm. Got to love plate coral just packed to the brim with feelers and nowhere to go.
Brad's was funny. We actually dropped anchor in a great spot but the current was just ripping and but he thought he'd give it a go. Just as I was asking 'anything here', Brad just says 'Lets have a look' and pops in. Pops up straight away with one from right under the boat in about 5 seconds - 'Well I guess so'.
