Was thinking the same

Mine never seem close to that clean. But I have to admit an old timer told me once never to wash them to well. Removes some of the taste he said, but not sure.

I am just to lazy to wash them heaps.

washing and or cleaning the squid, The secret to clean squid is to get rid of the ink sack as soon as possible before doing anything else like skinning etc.. IMO

Cleaning squid

Thu, 2013-05-23 09:11

In my opionion, the best way to clean squid is to place them whole straight into a hard mesh bag as soon as they are caught (this is similar to the bag you use to stream and scale fish).  When you move to your next spot, ensure they stay in the bag and the bag is secured to the boat with about 10 feet of rope, the action of the water cleans the externas of the squidl. Stop at your next spot and rip the guts out and turn them inside out and repeat the streaming process. All the skin, stains and bits and bobs are washed off with minimal effort leaving you with pristine white tubes and a clean boat.

Just make sure it's a pretty

Just make sure it's a pretty small mesh size. If the tip of the squid pokes through the hole, it is surprising (well, I was certainly surprised) how easily a squid can disappear!
