Strange Day in the South West
Headed out for a fish yesterday off Cape Nat. Tried a few spots in close for not much at all. Was an unusual drift yesterday. The wind was blowing from the SE and we were drifting in a southerly direction. Decided to head out to a spot I found a couple of weeks ago that has been producing some good fish. First drift on the spot and we had two solid hookups which resulted in two nice dhuys. Mine was caught on a Caprice jig and my mates was caught on fresh squid. After that it shut down completely. Couldn't even get a bite. The sounder was showing numerous large fish but they weren't interested. Maybe had something to do with the strange drift. Decided to move on and sound around for some new ground. Found a few new spots but didn't catch much on them. Finally tried jigging a couple of spots for some sambos or YTK. Matt had a couple of big bust offs on the light gear and I managed a couple of small sambos on the heavy gear. Always the way.

That's that bloody pinger in
That's that bloody pinger in the background, heard the bloke is a real arsehole!
Slow as shit for us mate but on the plus side I got some small pinnacles & ledges marked nearby holding good dhuie's by the look, worked the jigs and plastics hard for one hookup but lost to dud saltiga braid. We bailed in to pick up a feed of big whiting & got some good squid plus a decent BA to Capt. Grumpy

Yeah mate,
dunno about these pinging pricks, shoulda sent a coupla shots across the bow
Was a good day out regardless of the lack of fish. Cheers Brendan.
Would love to know what those big bustoffs were on the jigs, hooked halfway up in 40m then unstoppable. Good fun though.

Not sure
about Amberjacks Jody, can't say i've ever heard of one being caught down here. Possible though i guess. Most likely Big Sambo's or YTK.
