todays mixed bag
went out deep yesterday for some grey band wasnt sure about the weather but took off anyway! hit the hundred metre mark behind rotto and the water went from glass to a washing machine! even with no wind some of the slop was four foot high luckily i decided to take the bertram so we headed out to a spot in 250metres and it lit up the sounder i was pretty excited its been a while since we have headed out deep! pulled up dropped our lines and done four drifts only to result in 1 under size snapper and a red snapper! fish were there just not hungry! so we decided to move on went past the fads and threw out a bait and WAM straight on great fight on light gear and when boat it was a small yellowtail king there were thousands of them there! we also managed to boat a few small dollies untill they started to slow so i threw some lures around to no avail! and the mutton birds had moved in so bait wasnt an option so i thought lets try something stupid so i got my pe2 jigging out fit and a 200 gram jig i had tied another hook onto and cast it out towards the fad and let it drop a little then proceeded to jig it in WAM im on when i got it in i had a double header!
time to move onto some duhie grounds! we hit a few spots up each was alive on the sounder but nothing biting! at the last spot for the day still nothin we started to drift off it and clean up when the sounder lit up so we dropped down and bam i was on it was a queer fighting fish almost feeling like a sambo but with too muchdead weight! came up as a 12kg duhie with a 6kg queen snapper behind it! and the duhie was tail wrapped! the other fella got a nice king goerge! after that drop we went back but nothing else was keen! it was a very sloppy day out but very productive!

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.
