Applause 4000 with 12lb braid and a penn power stick that folds in half on any fish. Gave me a hell of a lot of curry in the current.

Mostly C&R mate unless I'm fanging for a sashimi feed, longtail are a little stringy but not all that bad. Bloody disappointed with the yellowfin catch rate this year, sigh, only got 1 all season. :(

last season was crap, the one before i scored well in October 06. best thing never lost one to the taxman....
got most of mine just north of south passage. there was acres of them and for days not one other boat.

Yup, same here
We had exactly the same in July 06, but up around North West Reef, triple hookups everywhere and non stop for ages. We ended up giving it away due to the furgles moving in.

yep
yep never went there cause all reports indicated what you experienced. guys were always asking me where i was catching them but none never came with.....more for me i guess.
actually i only lost one fish (mackie) for the whole trip....but next year (07) i only landed 2 ( small mackies) and the rest sharked.........whipped out my whole halco lure collection........and box o tissues.....
