On the way to Onslow

On the way to Onslow

Perfectly good tyres with full tread but it delaminated up the way to Onslow. After getting there on the spare I looked over the others and each had a small single surface crack on the sidewalls. Didnt want to take the chance of another blow out so I ordered up 5 new tyres.

The tread section that came off bent up the mudguard and took off the number plate. Something I didnt realise until pulled over by the coppers in Kwinana on the way home. They though it was odd a boat being towed at that time of night and wanted to check I hadn't stole it.

Ah, to be back in Kwinana again.

They have been on the trailer since new. 12 years.

The bloke at the tyre place reckons 7 years is a good run from a tyre as the deteoriate in the sun. I dont know why i came apart like that but I was asleep at the time, my bro was driving before you ask, and woke up to the vibration thru the car. The tread flew off seconds later.

Not too bad for me but not

Tue, 2008-06-24 08:57

Not too bad for me but not good for some poor bloke with a caravan in tow behind meFrown

When we got out the car the remains of the tyre where 200 meters back in the middle of the road. As I was walking back to remove it from the road a couple of caravaners drove over it. The guy at the back must of worn it as the tyre was broken up and knocked of the road after they passed.

The rear caravaner then pulled over about 200 meters up from where our car was parked. I then go see if he was alright but as I got close to him he drove off.

At least you pulled it off the road mate, not much you can do about the initial mess - but also good you were concerned.
