We have a winner
Howdy Lads. I went to Majuro in the Marshall Islands on the weekend to fish the 20th Annual Billfish Tournament. A very slow two days by pacific standards with only seven marlin being landed or tagged across the twelve competing boats. We got our first strike on the stinger however our cheers were short lived when we realised it was a shark. About an hour later we had a marlin strike two lures before hooking up solid on the third. You beauty!!!! Unfortunately this one was not able to be released so we boated it for the weigh in. The tournament rules are that any tagged and released marlin will get 200 points and any qualifying marlin (over 100lbs) gets it weight as points. This encourages the angler to release any marlin that think is under 200lb. Our fish went 188lbs and was the biggest of the tournament. There are massive marlin here with a 681lb fish being caught the week before the tournament and one team getting a 500lb+ fish boat side only to lose it. Lucky for us but you gotta feel for them. So overall we came second in the total points category with the marlin, a 33lb wahoo and four tagged and released tuna. We also won the biggest marlin and wahoo prizes. Hungover today; as expected.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

They went down way too well Lamby. I've either been drinking or hungover for the last two days. Pretty grateful I'll flying back to Pohnpei today...... We have a local tournament at home this weekend, hopefully my good fortune will continue.
