What I do when it's too windy to fish
Submitted by Ryan C on Mon, 2014-09-08 15:46
Just an action shot of my 1000cc outlander LTD quad , it has hi/ lo range air suspension , power steering a 1300 kg warn winch and a 1000 cc V-twin rotax engine , just the thing for weekends I can't fish .

Posting a photo of you
Posting a photo of you "driving recklessly" as the law would put it, on an unregistered bike, on easily recognised piece of road in an area that already gets hit hard by the water corp & cops. Real clever.

Actually yes it is that bad.
Actually yes it is that bad. I know that road very very well, I ride out there at least twice a week. It's a very busy section of road in an 80kmh zone. There's literally hundreds of riders go through there every weekend, never mind the 4x4's that come across on that track & the semi-tippers that go through every 10 minutes or so. Until recently it's been one of the last places within an hour of the city that you can go ride a dirt bike without having to worry too much about being hassled. There's a few legal riding areas but who wants to be stuck riding with the idiots in shitty boring places like Gnangara or Pinjar? Not me & not anyone I know. It's because of idiots doing the wrong thing & then advertising it (like riding unregistered on busy roads then posting pics) that the water corp & police have been cracking down on the area. Last weekend there was a police sting in the area with undercover cars & adventure style bikes. At least every 3rd trip out there these days I get a visit from the water corp to check on my rego & licence. Why would somebody choose to ride in this particular spot when they could travel a further 7.6km down that road & be in the middle of the bush where there's no traffic & no witnesses & they can ride any which way they like? Lack of commonsense is the only answer I can come up with.
BTW, the pic in my avatar is from a freestyle motocross event held with licence in a closed circuit with professional riders. Hardly comparable to being a dickhead on a public road.

How about your post with all the pics referring to shark culling? Your comment to another poster was " I'm ok with you putting your pics up as long as they are light hearted and not all the agro see too much on here" and yet you say that about me doing a 2 second wheelie pic when we were riding the power line track ? And never mind that the 220 members of my own and a mates Facebook quad groups all ride there " all the time" even though its illegal for all non fully registered vehicles ??

Hey Ryan, how does the quad 'feel' when your giving it a squirt on the bitumen?
I had a 700 grizzly which felt a bit dubious on the bitumen, excellent on any loose surface though.

Can am
It feels great John , I've had 650, 800 and now 1000 outlander 2 seaters and they are all excellent on road the 1000 wheelies so easy it's hard to hold it down !! It does come with 82 hp stock though and I've improved mine since stock , I had Polaris 4x4 sportsman x2"s before the can ams and can am is best .

Took you a long time to
Took you a long time to search my history to come up with a terrible comparison. The shark thread was a totally different subject & the theme of the thread was totally different. Now you go a step further & actually name the road in public. Well done on reaching a new level of stupidity by shitting in your own riding area. You obviously don't know that it's illegal for you to ride that bike anywhere in that area due to it being unregistered.
I've got nothing against quads, got one myself & my kids have one to. We ride them where it's quiet & we don't advertise those places. What I've got a problem with is morons ruining it for everyone else because they can't be a little bit discreet. It's hard enough to find a decent place to ride without advertising it to the world. If you think I'm being harsh on you go join Perthtrailscene.com & post your photo there. See what they've got to say about your intelligence levels.

Hey mate , road name removed , I can't be bothered anymore and didn't set out to start a slinging match , I have added to one of my comments and referred to the number of my group that ride out there so it's not a huge secret , been riding out there for 15 years and never had an issue and we ride from there and end up over 70 Klm's out on overnighters.

Good stuff, if you go a bit
Good stuff, if you go a bit further down into the bush to ride we'll no doubt come across each other sometime. You can see if you can keep up with two wheels
You should check the rules though if you think it's a legal area for unregistered vehicles because it's not. NOR your only legal riding areas are Pinjar Off-road area, Gnangara Off-road area & the Lancelin dunes off-road area. Even in these places you need to have your off-road vehicle licence (from any cop shop or licensing centre $6.90 per year valid sept to sept). Even B class registered bikes can't legally ride there (or almost anywhere else). It's all catchment area & only fully registered bikes are allowed. Just head that further bit down & keep an eye out for the coppers on their adventure bikes.

I haven't ridden a scrambler 1000 Vinnie , they look good , go quick and review well but it's all can am for me bro, even though the quad I've got is the worlds most exy at 21k I forget all about that when I'm sideways on a trail or on the back wheels !!

Nice one Tim-o !! Lol thinking about you on the way to work ! And yes for 400 kg quad it's a beast ! I've beaten every quad I've raced so far ( 6 banshees , a outlaw 525 , and a 700 raptor and a LTR 450r that was off its nut and all the 4x4 quads . All on bitumen too ( we have a drag strip in gnangara).

Yeah, gains likely to be had
Yeah, gains likely to be had with a bit of muckin round with the CVT. I modified my boy's LTZ50's CVT and totally changed the bike (I also wheelie that down our street haha). I reckon if they could get them to handle huge horsepower they'd be a weapon in a drag car, not unlike a fueler that just slips the clutch all the way down the qtr crossing the line at a lower rpm than what it was out of the hole
