Winter Snapper 09
Well finally after at least three hundred or more hours, of fishing the winter storms in freezing cold, rain, hail. lightning, huge swells, etc, etc, doing trips of between 8hrs-16hrs at a time. I've been catching quite a few small fish but no big whoppers until the other night it happened. Sitting there bored out of my mind I was on the phone talking to my daughter when I noticed the tip of my rod twitching. I said I'm getting a bite, then it started to scream off. I knew straight away that it was a snapper and I started trembling with excitement and adrenalin. it wasn't a long fight but there was heaps of headshakes and one longer run then shorter runs. I left the phone on and my daughter could hear the reel as it was losing line. The hardest part was that I was on my own and it tried real hard to dive under the rocks at my feet, but I managed to keep it away from them and soon it was in the net and mine. Yeehar.

Awesome Daniel
The master at work indeed.
You certainly put the hours in and deserve every one of those big fish you get from the stones.
Well done yet again.
Cheers

Absolutely Awesome Dan! I
Absolutely Awesome Dan! I bet your daughter thinks you're just the best mate! Great capture! Did you get it from ASI or North Mole?
I fished for years trying to get a snapper from North Mole with no luck, then tried Palm Beach jetty in Roco for 1 result over many, many hours. After that it was ASI for again many many hours until I decided to fish with a standard boat rod and overhead reel dropping my baits in close to the rocks. Once I did this I used to catch some awesome big Snapper, but again it meant putting in the hours and being in the right place for the conditions. But when they were around I would hook up time and time again and everyone else fishing their baits way out would fail.
